My husband was diagnosed with Huntinghtons about 2 years ago, but on reflection we think he may have had symptoms which we didn't recognise for about 10 years. I am trying to process a lot of grief at losing parts of my partner of 60 years. He has serious mood swings and some memory loss. He is often difficult to deal with if he doesn't agree with what we are doing. eg. a different television program from the one he wanted to watch. He is very old to be still alive with the disease (79) and deliberately does not acknowledge his physical symptoms eg. difficulty in walking and controlling his hand movements. I think he is also grieving but won't admit it.

There is also an online article in Friday 26th Sept edition of the heraldsun which includes comments from Tammy (CEO of Huntington's Victoria) I believe that this is worth a read and gives me HOPE for the future.

It's that exciting time of the year again! While the weather outside may be cold, we're turning up the heat with Huntington’s Victoria’s 4-week wellness challenge as part of our #Move4HD campaign!

Engaging both your brain and body significantly boosts overall wellness. That's why we're inviting everyone to join us starting the first week of July. You can take on this challenge on your own or grab your friends and do it together!

All you need to do is move your body or engage your brain for 30 minutes a day. Whether it's walking your dog, going for a run, solving a puzzle, or completing a crossword—choose an activity that you love!

This year marks our very first Huntington’s Victoria wellness challenge, and to celebrate, we have three incredible prizes for community members:

  • 🎟️ One lucky individual who logs more than 25 days of activity will win two tickets to Huntington's Victoria's Annual Gala Ball.
  • 🎁 One individual logging more than 20 days of activity will receive an HV hamper including a cuddly Hope, a warm jumper, and HV merch.
  • 🛍️ One lucky individual logging at least 18 days of activity will get a wellness hamper with handpicked goodies, chosen by Tammy as a mark of thanks for being part of HV's first-ever wellness challenge.
